As the Approach began 22 January, when Mercury was last at the 18 degree Aquarius point he will return to by 28 February, we started to see what we will be called to truly reflect and reassess under the Retrograde passage itself. Until 20 March, we are under the Shadow period, where it will take Mercury this much time to retrace his backwards steps until he is back over that 03 degrees of Pisces once more. And Viola! We’ll be complete for another review session where our Messenger is concerned until late Spring 2014. Know, under the Shadow, it is safe to move forward once more, but do be sure to still take on an air of caution and make sure the details involved are the way you wish them to be.

A Quick Word on The Messenger….

Mercury enters Aquarius

27 January

We continue to move forward in our present Waxing Phase as Mercury now catches up with our Sun, bringing some communications to where the gathering light recently initiated some new life through The Water Bearer within our Zodiac Pie.

Now through 13 February, mentalities are cleverly stimulated with original, comprehensive, scientific and synthetic ideas. As methods of expression become accurate, agreeable, and at times witty- penetrating and well-drill perceptions are easily able to fill thoughts of what can ultimately be improved upon.

Be sure to be leery of cold, superficial, and detached energies that may display themselves within this area of the life. True to Aquarius form, some unpredictable thoughts may wish to show up, and it is best to embrace them with a friendly attitude as they are processed.

As Mercury squares Jupiter in Taurus upon 28 January, see how these two areas in your life relate, and recognize a structure seeks to be formulated, rather than taking up with the sense of feeling blocked. Mercury is WHAAAAT? Retrograding? What on earth… Now, obviously this can be explained a little more clearly. Those planets that orbit around in that big Universe out there do this “thing” periodically, where they just so happen to want to move backwards. In knowing how the energy of planets cast their great affect upon us all, one might suspect that this “retrograde backwards thing” might just cause some interesting upsets in our lives.

Retrograde: Any planet’s reverse movement which results in an opposite direction to that of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun, or of the Moon around the Earth.

So when in Retrograde, a planet’s channel is what one might say is well…a little off in the optimal guidance it can bring. In such cases as Mercury’s Retrograde motion, this period occurs three times every calendar year. Now with a planet like fast moving and talking Mercury, one can only begin to imagine the multitudes of circumstances that could become a slight eschewed when the channel of The Messenger is not looking where he is going.

Keep in mind that Mercury is one of the inner planets and travels within its’ orbit very close to the Sun. Therefore, when in Retrograde, the collective (that means all of us people here on EARTH who have a HEART) typically sees it’s fair share of mishaps and misunderstandings. Compared to other outer planets that retrograde, Mercury’s proximity to the Sun allows for that “off energy” to throw the world in more flux than normal.

Yet, with awareness, no one has to get caught up in what is known as the Messenger’s “tricks” over his roughly 3 and a half week rearrangement fest. Huge rule of thumb during Mercury Retrograde is not to rush and leave plenty of time when going places.

Forms of travel are always caught in delays at this time. Really helpful over this time is to avoid “freaking out” because your flight got moved back 2 hrs or you didn’t make the light. Take a slow approach and work on relaxing in the midst of a busy day.

Easier said than done when what you will be seeing is people getting irritated because they react to the sudden changes going on. Rather than react, we are ultimately challenged to practice patience in our routines. Mercury REtrograde is about rescheduling, redoing, rewriting, rethinking, and of the utmost importance, reflecting.

Equally when it comes to speaking, do it clear and slowly. Those communications as well fall into the bag of tricks Mercury can pull- resulting in such misunderstandings that people are know to easily fight over this time- and ridiculous energy is spent fretting over something that wasn’t that important to be discussing anyway.

TIME to REinvent those communications, and bring REnewal and REflection upon the astrological house Aquarius affects in your birth chart. Mercury, our Messenger planet, once again REquests we gravitate to REassessment and REmaining calm while he plays his typical “tricks” upon the collective. One should not be surprised over this period that appointments change, travels see delays, and other kinds of movement upsets will be occurring. Watch for those ill-flows in conversation, as it is without fail at this time that this inner planet’s “backward motion” casts its’ arrows of flux upon us all.

So while those still in unawares stir around in the chaos thinking their worlds are ending, REmember it is to any soul’s advantage to be in the know of when Mercury is in REtrograde. There is no doubt it is our REactions to the abrupt and seemingly unexpected mishaps that are most important over this period. It is essential to realize we have so much we can succeed in over these times on a personal level; but first we have to know where to start.
